Plato is a household meal-planning app for iPhone. This policy explains what information Plato uses and how it is handled. Plato is built to keep your kitchen data with you — not to sell it or build advertising profiles.

Information Plato stores
Depending on how you use the app, Plato may store:
- Recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and kitchen settings you create
- Optional recipe photos and an optional profile photo you choose
- Household sharing information when you invite or join a kitchen
- Subscription status for Plato Pro (handled via Apple)
- Local preferences such as onboarding and explore-period state
Where data lives
- On your device — Plato keeps your kitchen data in local storage on the iPhone.
- iCloud / CloudKit — When you are signed into iCloud, Plato can sync private kitchen data and, if you choose, share a household kitchen with people you invite. Apple operates iCloud. Sharing only includes people you invite to your kitchen.
- App Group storage — Limited data may be shared with Plato’s Share extension and Widgets on the same device (for example, imported recipes and widget snapshots).
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — Purchases and subscription entitlement are processed by Apple. Plato does not receive your full payment card details.
Photos & library access
If you add a recipe photo or profile photo, Plato reads the image you select and stores a compressed copy with your kitchen data. Plato does not need ongoing access to your full photo library beyond the items you pick.
Notifications
If you enable shopping-list notifications, Plato may schedule local alerts on your device. Notification delivery uses Apple’s systems.
What we don’t do
- No third-party advertising networks
- No sale of personal information
- No analytics SDKs for cross-app tracking
- No account system separate from your Apple ID / iCloud
Household sharing
When you share a kitchen, members you invite can see and edit that shared kitchen’s recipes, plans, and shopping items. You can stop sharing or leave a kitchen using Apple’s sharing controls and the app’s household settings.
Retention & deletion
Your content remains until you delete it, leave a shared kitchen, or remove the app / related iCloud data. Deleting the app from a device may not erase iCloud copies until you remove Plato data from iCloud or stop sharing. To request help with deletion, email caleb@heymaverick.co.
Children
Plato is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the app to store information from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the “Last updated” date above will change. Continued use of Plato after an update means you accept the revised policy.
